Tawang - the land of Monpasis OR its natural beauty OR Buddhist influences OR Tawang Monastery

This is one of the most beautiful hill stations in Arunachal Pradesh spread over an area of 2,085 sq.kms bordered by Tibet. In Medieval times this place was part of the Kingdom of Tibet. Later on in 1962 Tawang was invaded by Chinese army later on they withdrew.

The literal meaning of Tawang means bearing with the local surroundings. It is said that the name Tawang was given by Merak Lama in the 17th century.

Main Attractions of Tawang

Itanagar : This is the capital of the state that attracts number of tourist's in Arunachal Pradesh. Here you will find many historical forts, Jawaharlal Nehru state Museum, Legendry Ganga Lake etc.

Parashuram Kund : According to ancient mythology Parashuram, a great sage washed his sin of matricide in the bank of the river Lohitwhich popularly known as Parashuram Kund. Every year in the month of January number of tourist visit this place to take part in the Parshuram mela.

Bhismaknagar : It is said that earlier Aryans were living there as according to mythology that Lord Krishna has carried away Rukmini from his father's kingdom.

Malinithan : Toursits come here to see the incarnation of temples, animal motifs, floral designs, panels and icon of deities that belongs to seven and eight century.
